Port Townsend, WA. 2019.

I’m a native of Tacoma, WA, from a family of three children. I’m the middle child, with an older sister and a younger sister. My mother is still living, and my father is deceased.

As long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to contemplative spirituality and the practice of being present.

This led me to enter Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon where I was introduced to the gift of  spiritual direction as part of my formation for priesthood.

Through ongoing discernment after ordination I enrolled at St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict (both in Minnesota) in their Spiritual Direction formation program. Participation in this experience opened me further to the riches of the Benedictine and Ignatian traditions and the formal study of spiritual direction as it has been handed down through the centuries. I also received supervised training in the practice and art of serving as a spiritual director for others.

Nowadays I continue my practice of receiving regular spiritual direction, and I offer spiritual direction to those who might ask me to travel the journey with them. My ongoing supervision comes from the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota.

The fruits of receiving spiritual direction manifest themselves over time. Personally, my life of prayer has grown rich and deep. I have come to know myself and God much more intimately, accept myself more completely, and share myself more genuinely. The whole experience has been a wonderful blessing for me.

Welcome to any of you who might be seeking to enter the path of spiritual direction either with me or with another spiritual director. I know the importance of finding the right fit, and I am happy to help support this.

With gratitude to those who recognize my gifts and who call them forth and nurture them.

Ongoing Supervision

Professional ethical standards suggest that spiritual directors participate in ongoing supervision through a peer group or with a more experienced director. I am currently receiving 1-on-1 supervision. My supervisor is a member of St. Benedict’s Monastery in Minnesota. She and I meet by phone four times per year.
